Sun Wukong, better known as the Monkey King, is a legendary and iconic figure in Chinese mythology, adapted countless times for film and television. Originating from the 16th-century novel Journey to the West, he is a powerful monkey born from a stone.

Endowed with supernatural strength, agility, and magical abilities including shapeshifting and cloud-somersaulting, the Monkey King initially seeks immortality and recognition as a deity. He masters powerful spells and becomes a formidable warrior, even challenging the Jade Emperor of Heaven.

After causing chaos in Heaven, he's subdued by Buddha and imprisoned under a mountain. He is later freed by the monk Tang Sanzang to become his disciple and protector on a perilous pilgrimage to retrieve Buddhist scriptures from the West.

Throughout their journey, the Monkey King battles demons and overcomes obstacles using his cunning and powers, gradually maturing and learning humility. He ultimately achieves enlightenment and becomes a Buddha himself, symbolizing the potential for growth and redemption.
